MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS AND APPRECIATIONS OF Q-1
(JAN-MAR 2018)

The EPC Team of TBEA has received Biharshariff package from PGCIL. The package covers execution of extension of substations at 11 (Eleven) different locations in 4 (Four) eastern states of India namely West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Sikkim. Within a short span after notification of award, EPC Team has visited the sub-stations for detailed designing and engineering. Despite the challenge that most of these substations are very old and data collection was visit oriented, the same has smoothly been done by the EPC Team. The following is moving towards execution at a good pace and the following major milestones have already been accomplished: (i) completion of physically visiting of the substations with 10 (ten) days span; (ii) preparation of major primary engineering drawings such as SLD and Layouts for all the 11 (Eleven) substations; and (iii) approval from PGCIL on SLD, Plan & Section for all the 11 (Eleven) sites within the stipulated time.

NEW HEIGHTS
IN-HOUSE MATERIAL TESTING LABORATORY

TOWARDS QUALITY REVOLUTION: IN-HOUSE MATERIAL TEST LABORATORY

In yet another remarkable achievement in the field of Quality and Testing, TBEAEI has successfully established a state of the art in-house Material Testing Laboratory. The facility is fully equipped with sophisticated apparatus for carrying out all raw material tests related to Power Transformers (i.e. CRGO, Conductor, Insulation, Transformer oil & test related to paint). A first of this kind in India, this testing facility will definitely help TBEAEI to take its quality commitments to new heights.

IMPLEMENTATION OF FRP COVERS IN PROJECTS

TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION WITH FRP COVERS

FRP covers are high strength, Corrosion resistant and Featherlight covers as a value replacement for RCC, Steel or Aluminium trench covers. Ideal for covering both Indoor as well as Outdoor Cable Trenches.

Fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) (also called fibrereinforced polymer, or fiber-reinforced plastic) is a composite material made of a polymer matrix reinforced with fibres. The fibres are usually glass (in fibre glass), carbon (in carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer), aramid, or basalt.

FRP COVERS ADVANTAGE

Light Weight; No Risk of Cable Damage; Corrosion Resistant to water and chemicals; Maintenance Free; No Pilferage -as no resale value; Fire Retardant and Self-Extinguishing; Saves a lot of time in construction and erection.

PROBLEMS WITH PRECAST RCC COVERS

RCC covers are too heavy to open for maintenance; RCC covers, if break, can damage the cables.; Steel and Aluminium covers corrode over time and look bad and become unsafe; Steel and Aluminium covers require regular maintenance; Steel and Aluminium covers gets stolen frequently; RCC cracks, Steel and Aluminium deshapes; RCC covers are very heavy and requires more time in erection and construction activity.
